Former Nigerian Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Message To INEC

Former Nigerian Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida  Message To INEC  Whatever the outcome of the Osun gubernatorial election is, INEC should declare a free and fair result. The people of Osun have spoken.

FG deserves commendation on Osun election – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said on Monday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) – led Federal Government deserved commendation and not criticism on the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun state.

He also faulted criticisms trailing the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the election inconclusive, adding that the APC submitted to the decision of INEC not because it hadn’t complaints to make but because of its belief in the rule of law.

He spoke at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on the sidelines of the commissioning of a multimillion dollars in-flight catering facility which was a joint venture between LSG Sky Chefs and Things Remembered Nigeria Limited.

He said it was unfortunate that many people have short memory as similar circumstance was witnessed in 2015 during the governorship election in Kogi state where APC was in clear lead.

Mohammad also said the election was not a vote of no confidence on the APC government as being insinuated, saying every politics has its local peculiarities.

He said, “You see people have very short memory. I must tell you they exhibit a lot of ignorance. How many people remember today that in 2015, the governorship election in Kogi was suspended even when the APC was leading with 90,000 votes.

“And there were reruns ordered in about 90 polling units or so. So what happened in Osun has nothing to do with whether APC was winning or not winning or it is in government. It is the prerogative of the Independent National Electoral Commission to decide whether an election is concluded or not.

“If this had happened four years ago, they would have declared victory for the PDP but you can see that this is a government that believes in rule of law and fair play and that is why we submitted to the decisions of INEC, not that we didn’t have things to contest. We have a lot of things to contest also but we submitted to the decision of INEC because we believe in rule of law.

On whether the election was a vote of no confidence on APC government, he said, “At times we are a bit shallow in our assessment. If there is an election and APC has just a margin of 353 votes and you said APC had lost heavily, you should learn to look at context. Two, this is an election that was very peaceful, highly competed for, even though the APC had control of all the state institutions, we refused to abuse them.

“I think you should, on the contrary, congratulate and commend the Federal Government for being very impartial in the conduct of an election. And for those who are saying, ‘this is probably a sign that PDP would win’, every election is a local matter.

“The factors that would come to play in any election are local and peculiar to that particular state. It would not be fair and accurate or intelligent to generalize and say, ‘because it happened here, that’s what will happen’. What about Ekiti where we were not even in government at the state level and yet we won”.

BREAKING: APC Expels Pally Iriase, House Of Rep. Deputy Chief Whip

The Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Mr Pally Iriase, has been expelled from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for alleged anti-party activities.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lawmaker who represents Owan Federal Constituency, was expelled by his ward and ratified by the Local Government.

The expulsion letter was signed by Zuberu Shabah and Theophilus Aigboje, Chairman and Secretary respectively, of Owan East Local Government and made available to newsmen in Benin on Monday.

Allegations leveled against Iriase included defection of Ward eight and nine APC executives to the PDP on the orders of Iriase, presenting his Personal Assistant, Hilary Ozogo, to contest under the PDP platform and refusal to attend APC meetings.

In the letter addressed to the National Chairman of the APC, Mr Adams Oshiomhole through the Edo Chairman of the party, Mr Anselm Ojezua, the Owan East APC said it ratified the decision of APC members of Ward nine to expel Iriase.

The letter said all laid down rules and procedures as enshrined in article 21 of the APC’s constitution were followed in reaching the conclusion to expel Iriase.

It said the APC in Owan East has since moved on without Iriase and the evidence would show in the forth coming elections.

When Prince George and Princess Charlotte acted as a pageboy and bridesmaid on Saturday in Letheringsett, Norfolk all eyes were again on the two little royals. He laughed and giggled - and even led his fellow pageboys in a game of soldiers, marching around the church drive after the ceremony. Earlier he had poked his head out of the church porch several times as he waited for the bride to arrive. Left: Princess Charlotte with her godmother on her big day. Middle: children at the wedding who wore bespoke outfits from Amaia Kids. And right Prince George who wore a collarless white shirt, sky-blue knickerbockers, white stockings and white loafers.
They stole the show at their uncle Prince Harry’s wedding earlier this year.

And when Prince George and Princess Charlotte acted as a pageboy and bridesmaid on Saturday, all eyes were again on the two little royals.

Five-year-old George – in a collarless white shirt, sky-blue knickerbockers, white stockings and white loafers – seemed in particularly playful mood.

Charlotte, three, in a white dress with blue piping and circlet of flowers, seemed unimpressed with his antics, frowning as she clutched a posy and a blue bag.

Accompanied by their parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, they were among seven excited youngsters taking part in the wedding of Sophie Carter, one of Kate’s best friends, to Robert Suggs at St Andrew’s Church in Letheringsett, Norfolk.

Kate’s brother James and their parents Michael and Carole Middleton, who have all known Sophie since she was a schoolgirl, were also there, but sister Pippa, whose first baby is due imminently, was absent.

All the children wore bespoke outfits from Amaia Kids. Kate, 36, wore a periwinkle blue suit by Catherine Walker with a floral headpiece believed to be by Jane Taylor. Her hairstylist, Amanda Cook Tucker, is thought to have styled the bride’s hair.

Sophie is a member of the ‘Turnip Toffs’ that make up William and Kate’s set around their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, and is one of Charlotte’s godmothers.

If Obasanjo has problem with me, that’s his problem –Atiku

A former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, said he had no problem with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Abubakar, who is a Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant, made the statement while addressing the Nasarawa State Working Committee and delegates of the PDP in Lafia, the state capital.

When asked to comment on the alleged rift between him and Obasanjo, Atiku said he had no problem with the former President.

“I don’t have any problem with former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, but if he says he has a problem (with me) that is his problem,” Atiku said.

He promised to take Nigeria to a higher level if elected president in 2019.

According to him, insecurity, poverty, and hunger are some of the factors militating against the progress of the country.

Atiku said it was improper to describe Nigerian youths as lazy people who only needed free money.

According to him, available records have proved Nigerian youths to be excellent sportsmen and women, astute businessmen and women, among others

“If elected President of Nigeria, I will restructure Nigeria by empowering the youth, eradicate hunger and poverty, as well as fight insecurity,” he stated.

The former Vice President also promised to develop all the states sharing boundaries with the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

This, according to him, is because most of the people working in the FCT reside in communities located in the neighbouring states.

He called on the delegates to vote for him given his experience and resourcefulness.

Responding, the Nasarawa State PDP Chairman, Francis Orugu, commended Atiku for the visit.

He promised that delegates from the state would vote for a credible aspirant that would be able to represent the party in the 2019 presidential election.

Man Blows off Teeth of a Prostitute During Sex for Refusing to Give Him as he Wants in Lagos

According to PM Express a 25-year old man, Mr. Oki Olabisi has been arrested and arraigned in Lagos after he allegedly knocked off a sex worker’s teeth during sex inside a hotel room at Formula Four located at Coker Street in Ejigbo, Lagos.
The suspect went to the hotel to drink and later negotiated with one Tina John for short sex romp for an undisclosed fee.

However, when he booked and they entered the room Tina was said not to fully cooperate with him; Tina reportedly removed her pant and behaved strangely.

She refused to open her legs properly for easy penetration and that caused serious exchange of words which later to degenerated to a fight inside the hotel room.

In the process, Mr. Olabisi throwed blows at her which led to her teeth falling off.

The noise from the room attracted the management of the hotel and they held Olabisi before calling the attention of the police at Ejigbo Division.

The police found Olabisi culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrates court for assault, grievous harm and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.

He pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomada, granted Olabisi bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.

The matter was adjourned till 17th September, 2018.

Sex Drugs: Superintendent Of Police Dies During Sex With Lover In Lagos Office

A 56-year-old Superintendent of Police (SP), Sunday Eguakhide, has reportedly died while making love to a mother of two in his office. The incident, it was learnt occurred on August 24, about 11.30a.m., in his office at the Police College, Ikeja. Sources at the college said yesterday that the woman was his second wife who he married out of wedlock.

According to the sources, the woman was always visiting the deceased in his office. On the fateful day, the lovers were making love when Eguakhide died less than a week before his retirement.

The said lover was arrested by policemen from Ikeja division and has been in detention since then. The deceased was said to be found of taking sex enhancement drugs whenever he wanted to make love with the woman whose identity was still unknown.

But the lover reportedly denied knowing anything about Eguakhide’s death. “He used to have sex with me in his office. He had already gone one round, but as usual, he was not satisfied. In fact, I told him that the drug he used to take anytime we wanted to have sex was not good for my body.

I didn’t like it because I was the one that used to bear the brunt of it. “After taking the drug he would be pounding into me for a very long time and because of the drug, he usually takes long to come.

On that fateful day, after he went first round, he refused to allow me to dress. He started playing with me until his manhood (joystick) became erected again. He then started making love to me again,” she was quoted as saying.

The woman, who was said to be a petty trader, said at a point, the deceased began to act funny; and suddenly rolled off her, rolled off the couch in his office on which they were having sex, to the ground and started jerking. The woman, who was scared, was said to have been calling Eguakhide’s name repeatedly, but he refused to respond and continued jerking.

When she noticed that his tongue was beginning to protrude and foams emitting from his mouth, she unlocked the office door, ran out and started screaming, calling for help and unmindful that her brassieres were dangling.

It was also learnt that before help could come, Eguakhide was already dead. He was found stark Unclad with his hurriedly removed shirt and trousers still on his office table. It was also learnt that the deceased was recently promoted to the rank of SP and was supposed to retire on August 31.

Some of Eguakhide’s subordinates alleged that he was fond of having sex in his office with different women. He was also accused of being fond of compelling female recruits to have sex with him in his office.

When his wife was alerted, she was said to have rushed down to Ikeja Police College, where Eguakhide served as the officer in charge of Transport at Works Department.

She broke down in tears and accused the Force of finally succeeding in killing her husband. But the woman was said to have been briefed about what led to her husband’s death. His remains were later evacuated and deposited at the Ikeja General Hospital mortuary.

However, a police officer denied the allegation that Eguakhide died as a result of enhancement drug. He said: “I worked closely with him at the Transport Department that was when I noticed that he was suffering from blood pressure, while the woman at the centre of the crisis is his second wife.
But he married her out of wedlock.

Whenever she wanted to see the husband she always comes to the office. “To the best of my knowledge, I don’t know if they were sleeping with each other in the office, but what I knew was that the woman usually comes to meet him in his office to collect money for the upkeep of her children.

“He was a generous person. Our superior always warns every officer at the police college to take good care of our health. It was the junior officer who rushed him to the hospital but he died before they got to the Ikeja General Hospital.

I am going to miss him because he did not hold grudge with anybody.” When our correspondent visited Eguakhide’s house at Ikeja barracks it was locked as the wife and children were said to have travelled to Edo State, his home town. The Police College Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluwaseyi Sotayo, was said to have gone out when our correspondent went to his office yesterday to confirm the story.

A 27-year-old man, identified as Isah Ibrahim, has been paraded by the police in Osun for allegedly masterminding the kidnap of his father, Ibrahim Adamu, who eventually died in the kidnappers’ den.

According to Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, the suspect, on April 17, 2018 was reportedly conspired with one Jolaanobi Saheed and three others to kidnap his father for ransom at Owode-ede.

He explained that the kidnappers later killed the victim after collecting three million naira from the family victim, and buried him in a shallow grave near a river.

Adeoye said the prime suspect, Saheed was later apprehended by the police and charged to court, but eventually released on bail.

“Our detectives swung to action immediately the matter was reported to us, we made an headway and arrested the prime suspect, he eventually jumped bail after releasing him on bail by the court.

“Other two accomplices were arrested as we continue to launch a manhunt for the prime suspect, the two suspects we are parading now include the person that dug the shallow grave in which the victim was said to have been buried at a river bank.
“Unfortunately, we have not been able to recover the body of the deceased, may be it has been washed away by water, we don’t know.

“The suspects promised to give the son of the deceased a sum of five hundred thousand naira initially, but later shortchanged him and gave him 45,000 out of three million naira they collected from the family.

“So, this young man sold his father to death for the sum of 45,000 only, “Adeoye lamented.

The son of the deceased, while fielding questions from newsmen, said the initial plan he had with the gang was not to kill his father but to collect money from him.
He expressed regret over the incident, saying his father hostile disposition towards him compelled him to seek for means to “punish” him.

Meanwhile, the mother of the prime suspect, alongside his younger brother and pastor were paraded on Tuesday.

Bishop Ellis apologises to Ariana Grande for onstage 'touching' and 'joke'

Detroit — The bishop who officiated Aretha Franklin's funeral apologised Friday to Ariana Grande for how he touched her onstage and a joke he made about her name.

Bishop Charles H. Ellis III led Franklin's funeral and greeted Grande on stage after she performed (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.

Images of the moment showed Ellis' hand holding Grande well above her waist, with his fingers pressing against one side of her chest.

The preacher apologised in an interview with The Associated Press at the cemetery where Franklin was interred late on Friday.

"It would never be my intention to touch any woman's breast. ... I don't know I guess I put my arm around her," Ellis said. "Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar but again, I apologise."

He said he hugged all the performers during Friday's eight-hour service.

"I hug all the female artists and the male artists," Ellis said. "Everybody that was up, I shook their hands and hugged them. That's what we are all about in the church. We are all about love."

He added: "The last thing I want to do is to be a distraction to this day. This is all about Aretha Franklin."

Many people posted close-up images of the moment on Twitter, tagging it ##RespectAriana.RespectAriana.

Ellis also apologised to Grande, her fans and Hispanic community for making a joke about seeing her name on the program and thinking it was a new item on the Taco Bell menu.

"I personally and sincerely apologise to Ariana and to her fans and to the whole Hispanic community," Ellis said. "When you're doing a program for nine hours you try to keep it lively, you try to insert some jokes here and there."

Grande's representative did not return an email message seeking comment Friday.

Missing child at Christ Embassy: Edo Govt evacuates children from God’s Own Orphanage in Benin

Missing child at Christ Embassy: Edo Govt evacuates children from God’s Own Orphanage in Benin

...three other undocumented children found at facility

The Edo State Government has evacuated 15 children from God’s Own Orphanage, in Benin City, pending conclusion of ongoing investigation of the case of a child that was allegedly stolen at Christ Embassy, Oregun, Lagos and found at the orphanage in Benin.

The four-year-old, identified as Elo Ogidi, was said to have been stolen during a church service at Christ Embassy in Oregun, in July and was found last Friday in God’s Own Orphanage when policemen raided the facility after a tip-off.

Speaking after sealing off the centre, located at 25 Davies Street, off 2nd Dr. Garrick Layout, off Siluko Road, Benin City, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Magdalene Ohenhen, noted that management of the centre did not follow due process in admitting Elo into the home.

During the operation, the commissioner and her team also discovered that the orphanage had three other children who were not documented with the ministry as required by law.

Ohenhen said, “there are rules and regulations guiding the operations of orphanages, but the management of God’s Own Orphanage did not abide by these rules which is why we have shut it.

“The procedure is that before you accept a child into an orphanage in the state, the operator of the home must inform the state government through the state’s Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.”

According to Ohenhen, God’s Own Orphanage “has three other children who were admitted into the home without the knowledge of the state government.”

Noting that the owner of God’s Own Orphanage didn’t inform government before admitting Elo, she said, “the home did not inform us about the child who was reported missing in a church in Lagos, before accommodating the child in the home.”

She noted that the children in the orphanage numbering about 15 are being moved to a safer centre, where they will be under the custody of the Edo State Government, pending when investigation on the activities of the home is concluded.

Nigerians:For those going to Europe through desert, Mediterranean Sea on their own risk-President Buhari

Streets Of Germany Not Paved With Gold, Says Merkel
President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, warned that Nigerians defying the harsh desert conditions and the Mediterranean Sea to illegally migrate to Europe were doing so on their own, as his administration would never condone any form of illegality or indiscipline.

The President, who stated this while fielding questions from newsmen during a joint press briefing between him and visiting German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, assured his guest that the federal government would continue to discourage Nigerians from embarking on illegal migration to Europe, saying those stuck in foreign countries would continue to be repatriated back home.

Speaking against the backdrop of the recent repatriation of Nigerians stuck in Libya on their way to Europe, Buhari wondered why people would defy the harsh desert conditions and the difficult Mediterranean Sea to go abroad to seek greener pastures, saying: “I am against my countrymen and women that illegally find their way to other countries other than Nigeria.

“For those going to Europe, this administration does not support that Nigerians should defy the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean because they feel there are greener pastures there. We do not support anything illegal and undisciplined.

“This administration is very clear that we do not support anything illegal and anybody who feels that his country does not offer him what he should be offered and decides to defy the Mediterranean is doing so at his own risk.”

The President, however, assured that any Nigerian found stuck anywhere, the government would promptly bring them back and facilitate their return to their respective local government areas in the country.

Earlier in a closed-door session, the two leaders signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) on agriculture, commerce and automobiles.

The first agreement was signed by the First Deputy National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Hajia Saratu Iya Abubakar, on behalf of Nigeria, and Dr. Stefan Liebing of German-Africa Business Association, on behalf of Germany.

The second agreement was signed by the Managing Director of Nigeria Incentive Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), Aliyu Abdulhameed, and Peter Huser of the PETKUS Technologie GmbH.

Answering questions through an interpreter during the joint press conference, Merkel, giving details of cooperation and other assistance coming to Nigeria, said both countries were in agreement to arrive at what she described as a win-win situation and create legal means of migration.

She stressed the need for Nigeria to improve on the state of its economy, stating that migrants should be made to realise the danger associated with illegal migration to Europe, saying the belief that the streets of Germany are paved with gold is not true, just as she advised immigrants to learn to stay in their own countries.

“In preparing for this visit, we engaged the spirit of win-win situation. We were in agreement to create a win-win situation on both sides by creating legal means of migration as it is in other countries.

“There is the need to improve on situation at home and make young people to know how dangerous it is to leave their countries. Many stories told about Germany are not true,” she said.

Merkel said the agreement with Nigeria on agriculture was done because Germany had not in the past focused so much on agriculture in Nigeria, noting that Germany would engage Nigeria on how both countries can make renewable energy more efficient in the country, as well as cooperate on how agriculture could be developed and projects agreed upon equally implemented.

The German leader disclosed that her Nigerian counterpart told her in the meeting that 70 per cent of the almost 200 million Nigerian population are youths, noting that if jobs were provided for them, it would go a long way in nipping the menace of trafficking in the bud.

Disclosing that there are 1,200 Nigerians currently studying in Germany, Merkel said her country was ready to provide educational assistance that would increase the number.

She described Nigeria’s economy as strategically relevant in Africa, saying partnership in the area of food production, automobile manufacturing and energy remained invaluable in cementing their relationship.

On the menace of illegal migration, where 30,000 migrants are reportedly seeking asylum in Europe, Merkel said her country would continue to address the challenge via negotiations, adding that with the world becoming a global village, both countries would share ideas in the area of education by way of exchange programmes.

She said the crisis surrounding Lake Chad, as well as the menace of terrorism, would form the crux of discussions during the Berlin conference scheduled for next week.

The German Chancellor, on an economic diplomacy visit to Nigeria, arrived Abuja aboard her BundeRepublic Deutschland Boeing 733 at 21.24 local time Thursday night and was received by the duo of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Muhammad Bello, and the Nigerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khadija Ibrahim.

INEC :Nigerians share their experience PVC registration/ collection

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) finally closed registration of voters yesterday ahead of 2019 elections, Nigerians have been reliving their experiences during the exercise.

While some commended INEC for the manner the exercise was carried out, others condemned the Commission’s officials for poor handling, alleging that they were more interested in exploiting Nigerians than making the exercise hitch-free.

Many also complained of their inability to get their Permanent Voter Cards, despite having registered since, but ironically, INEC has been appealing to registered Nigerians to come and pick their PVCs. The figure of uncollected PVCs across the country, according to INEC, is overwhelming. This has left many wondering if the owners of these uncollected PVCs are truly Nigerians or not. Some have asked what would happen to the uncollected PVCs if their owners fail to collect them. This is one question INEC has not provided answer to, even as opposition has even accused the electoral umpire of planning to hand it over to the ruling APC to rig the 2019 elections. How this is, nobody knows, but it’s been a mixed bag of experiences for majority of Nigerians trying to register or collect their PVCs.
