Pregnant women in Ghana now take pills to bleach unborn babies’ skin

According to viral reports, pregnant women in Ghana, are allegedly taking pills to bleach their unborn babies from dark to light… This is due to the general fact that most Ghanaian babies are born dark.

The pills work by creating chemical reactions that reduce the secretion of hormones that darken the skin of the child, making them light-skinned while they are still in the womb.

One of the drugs in question, Glutathione is one of the most talked-about supplements in the healthcare industry. However, mothers have begun manipulating its side effects to alter the complexion of their unborn babies.

Medical experts however says the drug use is illegal, as it can cause birth defects, including damage to the baby’s limb and internal organs.

Ghana‘s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) says using these pills for this purpose is dangerous, adding it wants “the general public to know that no product has been approved by the FDA in the form of a tablet to lighten the skin of the unborn child”.

“The use of these drugs has gone to an alarming stage; it is ignorance that is making people do so,” the FDA’s head of cosmetics and household chemicals, Emmanuel Nkrumah, said at a media-sensitisation workshop on unapproved bleaching pills and products.

“[The only things] that you take orally should be food, toothpaste and mouthwash, and not bleaching pills,” Nkrumah said.

The practice is growing in Ghana, according to the FDA, with pills often smuggled into the country inside luggage at airports in large quantities.

Although comprehensive data has not yet been gathered, the body says market surveillance and stakeholder activity have helped to reveal the trend among women crosses socio-economic divides.

Security agencies and police are working together to arrest and prosecute companies and individuals in possession of the illegal tablets.

In Nigeria, skin bleaching creams are the fad. The practice is so common that there are grades, depending on the financial capacity of the interested party.

In Ghana, the case is similar. A number of the country’s celebrities, quite like Nigeria, have been accused of bleaching their skin over time.

Man accuses wife who just delivered 2-month-old baby of carrying strange pregnancy

A 33- year - old commercial motorcyclist , Uche Duru , has threatened to dump his wife , Rita Nwolu, for being pregnant while still nursing their two months ’ old baby.

Duru also accused his wife of running away from home to join a baby factory, adding that she was attempting to sell the two - month - old baby to one Mrs . Ngozi Egeonu for N 300 , 000 .

He alleged that Egeonu was running a baby factory and had rented an apartment for Nwoli so as to co- opt her into her baby factory.

“I have been looking for my wife since December . I never knew that she had already sold my baby to a woman for N 300 , 000 . I also learnt that she is two months ’ pregnant ; how can my wife who was delivered of a baby two months ago be pregnant ?

“ I am not the owner of that pregnancy because I did not sleep with her . I have not seen her for the past two months and it is the police that discovered that she went to sell my baby. I will leave her if she fails to tell me where the pregnancy came from , ” Duru added .

Thanking the police for recovering his baby, Duru explained that though he and Nwolu had been living together, he had not finished paying her bride price.

But the wife , who looked worn- out, disagreed with Duru , insisting that her husband impregnated her , even while she was still nursing her two -month- old baby.

“ My husband is the owner of the pregnancy . He impregnated me . After I gave birth to the baby, my husband would smoke Indian hemp and forcefully sleep with me .

“ It continued to happen like that until I noticed that I was pregnant. Each time I refused to have sex with him , he would use a cutlass to threaten me , ” she said .

She denied selling the baby , explaining that since there was nobody to take care of her , she decided to hand over the baby to a Egeonu , who promised to take care of the baby.

When confronted , Egeonu denied running a baby factory , explaining that what she ran was an orphanage in Owerri , Imo State .

She also denied buying Nwolu’ s baby, but claimed that the N 300 , 000 she offered the nursing mother , was to take care of the infant and her other children .

However , the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Rivers State , Mr. Cyril Okoro , said men of the IGP Monitoring Unit , on February 16 , 2018 , arrested Nkechi Uzoemene , Roseline Okey and Nwolu, who allegedly conspired to sell a two - month - old baby boy without the consent of Nwolu’ s husband.

Okoro said , “ The suspects were said to have conspired amongst themselves and sold a two - month - old baby boy belonging to Rita Nwolu for the sum of N 300 , 000 , albeit without the consent of her husband, Uche Duru .

“ The child was sold to Ngozi Egeonu in Owerri, Imo State . However , on the execution of a search in the house and premises of the buyer , operatives recovered nine pregnant young women , whose pregnancies have been mortgaged .

“ Further investigation led to the recovery of the two - month-old baby boy at No. 24, Egbelu Street, Rumudara in Port Harcourt, where the duo of Ugo Amarachi (female ) and Benjamin Amuobichukwu were arrested. ”

Okoro explained that all the suspects had since confessed to being complicit in the alleged offence and would be charged to court soon .

Open Heavens Thursday March 1st 2018 daily devotional by Pastor E. A. – GOOD SUCCESS

GOOD SUCCESS –
Memorise: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8
Read: Proverbs 1:29-33 (KJV)
1:29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:
1:30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
1:31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
1:32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
1:33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Message
Our memory verse today lets us know straightaway that not all success is the same. While some success can be good, others can be bad.  If you want your own success to be good, this Book of the Law, which is the Bible, shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall mediate on it day and night to ensure that you live according to all that it says. The word of God further emphasise the fact that not all success is good success. For example, Proverbs 1:32 tells us that if prosperity is put in the hands of a fool, it will eventually destroy him or her. This means there is a kind of success that brings destruction. We see this today in the lives of many seemingly successful people, especially celebrities and young stars all over the world. I pray that the kind of success and prosperity that destroys it owner will never come your way in the Name of Jesus.

Good success has many facets. It could mean prosperity without adversity. Proverbs 10:22 says that the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow. It could also mean promotion without the possibility of demotion. It is better not to be promoted at all, then to be promoted today and demoted tomorrow. Good success also refers to deliverance without any relapse. It is sad that some people who were once delivered have later relapsed into bondage again (Luke 11:24-26). Good success also manifest as victory without the possibility of future defeat, as well as processing an anointing that never dries up. Good success is salvation without backsliding, and it could also mean several other things. The Lord will grant you good success in the form of a blessing that lasts forever in Jesus’ Name.

For you to experience good success, you must first accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. Then, you must submit to the authority of the Bible as the eternal word of God, through a diligent study of its teachings. You must take the word of God as your absolute guide in all matters relating to human life and existence. Your commitment and obedience to the word of God will bring you to a level of fellowship with God that attracts the assured presence of His almighty power, which enforces the manifestation of good success and prosperity in your life. As you endeavour to live according to God’s word today, good success and prosperity will accompany everything you do, in Jesus’ Name.

IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu and his Wife Spotted in Ghana

There has been controversy over the whereabouts of Kanu who was last seen in public in September 2017 before the military launched Operation Python Dance II and raided his home in Aba, Abia state.

His court trial for treason has stalled and Enyinnaya Abaribe, the senator who served as Kanu’s surety when he was granted bail after spending 18 months in detention, has sought to be discharged from the obligation after his disappearance.

TheCable claims it has been informed by security sources that Kanu was ferried to the Niger Delta creeks by militants at the height of Python Dance II, from where he found his way to Ghana by sea.

Open Heavens Wednesday February 28th 2018 daily devotional by Pastor E. A. – JOY TO THE WISE

JOY TO THE WISE –
Memorise: The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. Proverbs 15:24
Read: Proverbs 10:8-14 (KJV)
10:8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
10:9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
10:10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
10:11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
10:13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
10:14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

Bible in one year: Numbers 3, 1st Corinthians 14:6-25, Hymnal: Sing hymn 4
Message
There is a relationship between wisdom and Joy. We see this truth in Ecclesiastes 8:1b:
“A man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.”
The reason why the wise possess joy is that they work to bring joy to the people around them and not to themselves alone (2nd Corinthians 2:3). Who then are the wise? Proverbs 10:8a answers this question:

“The wise in heart will receive commandments;”

It takes wisdom and humility of heart for a man to abide by the commandments of God. Alas, these two are in short supply in today’s world. No wonder joy is fast becoming a scarce commodity. For a lot of people in the world today, God’s commandments are no longer an issue to be considered. Liberal theologians are busy convincing the gullible that the commandments of God are obsolete, moribund and out of fashion. They argue that the only way to sustain the Christian faith is to abandon the commandments of God as reinforced by Jesus Christ in the gospels. The message of the Bible is being over-contextualized to the point that we have many varieties of beliefs and practices in the Body of Christ today. It’s presented as if when God was giving His commandments, He did not have the whole world in mind. We must admit the truth that when Jesus Christ was teaching His disciples, He was preparing them to evangelise the world. He could therefore not have sent them out to different parts of the world to teach a spiritual curriculum that is different from what He had already taught them as recorded in the gospels. This is the testimony of one of His disciples about their message to the whole world in 1st John 1:3:

“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”

A hymn writer’s advice would suffice as the crux of the message for today’s devotional: “Trust and obey; for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus; but to trust, and obey.” Only the fear of God, which produces adherence to His commandments, can give you joy unspeakable and make you full of His glory. Be wise today.
Prayer Point
Father, please give me the spirit of wisdom that will produce my desired joy in Jesus’ Name.
